Biography

Early arts training through TAFE NSW & ANU (Canberra School of Art) then a BA of Creative Enterprise at Central QLD University, with a final semester at New Mexico State University. I relocated from Sydney to regional QLD in 1998 & joined a local pottery group, where I found myself completely captivated by the tactile sensuousness of clay, I have a particular fondness for hand building and burnished surfaces. Since moving to the west coast and joining the Perth Studio Potters in late 2020 I have been discovering the complexities of working with porcelain, and combining different clay bodies. Drawing & painting dominated my early work (& still comprise an important part of my artwork) however I now also use many different materials to make 2D artworks, sculptures, jewellery & mosaics, as well as build large cane, wire & paper lanterns for different community events.

Artist Statement

I am something of a polymorph in my arts practice & like to use a wide variety of media. I find my inspiration in landscape & environment (both natural & built) with their myriad life forms. My sketchbooks are filled with images, providing a constant source of information & research. Some favourite themes are revisited again & again, often over many years.
